Fassbinder Opening Credit 1

Rainer Werner Fassbinder is one of thre greatest German film makers, in my opinion. His opening credits are just as amazing as his films.
This is the first one I would like to present, from the film Götter der Pest, or Gods of the Plague.
Particularly great is the amazing use of light/dark. The film starts with this almost painterly shot, the credits are only introduced a couple of seconds after one has the time to take in the symbolics of the shot. And then he picks up the use of stark light contrasts, by making the letters almost look like neon lit letters in a shady nightlife scene. We are all the more surprised when the clock only shows 9pm a few minutes into the movie.
